Frequently Asked Questions
How long do heirs have to renounce an inheritance in Türkiye?
For statutory heirs, generally three months from learning of the death (Turkish Civil Code Art. 606). Renunciation is declared to the civil court of peace.
Where is a certificate of inheritance obtained?
From a notary or the civil court of peace. Where there is a foreign element or a dispute among heirs, the court route may be required.
